We may use more pans and have more people than when we first started out, but our all of our products are still fresh baked, handmade, wholesome and our baking philosophy still revolves around one thing: Love.
Thomas's Story
Thomas was a happy, healthy boy.
On February 23, 2007, Thomas was diagnosed with a rare aggressive brain tumor. He was two and a half years old. In our numbed state, we focused on getting through each day. There With Care stepped in and took care of many of our needs when it was obvious we couldn’t. They delivered meals for us, leaving them in a cooler at our other children’s school gym or delivering them to Brent’s Place in Denver, our temporary residence. They helped repair our car when it broke down. When we needed a ride to radiation treatment and our friends could no longer take us, There With Care arranged for a taxi so that I could hold Thomas and keep him safe. My husband was working two jobs and There With Care made sure our other two children, James (aged 7) and Sarah (aged 5), were also cared for, taking them to riding lessons, art therapy, trips to the pool and other outings.
After multiple hospitalizations, five stem cell transplants and three relapses later, Thomas succumbed to the cancer on August 31st, 2008 at age four. At this time, There With Care stepped up again and helped both plan and implement a Life Celebration and Memorial Service for Thomas here in Boulder.
