Production Senior Lead

Position Title:  Production Senior Lead (Monday - Friday / Day Shift)

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Wage range is $25 - $30 per hour

Position Summary:

The Senior Lead is responsible for the training and upskilling of production operators. This includes managing and facilitating the operator training program, providing hands-on training with operators, and assisting in the creation of operator training material. This role will work cross-functionally with all departments including safety, quality, production, training, and maintenance.  In addition, this role will serve as a backup Production Line Lead to assist in coverage as needed.   The person in this role will need to be able to work a flexible schedule that includes working with all shifts at the plant as needed for training and/or coverage purposes.

 

The Senior Lead will be expected to understand the operations of all Bobo’s product lines and their associated equipment.  This position must be able to manage the trouble shooting process and communicate immediately any down time affecting the production schedule to the appropriate point of contact.  When in this position, the position holder will be considered senior level of the production floor and will be called upon for leadership. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promote food safety, quality, and a safety-first culture through training and development activities within the site
  • This position will become proficient in all equipment in the Bobo’s plant with the end goal of training and equipping operators to safely and efficiently operate equipment
  • Serve as the primary resource for operator equipment training across shifts
  • Builds capability in operators to effectively create and deliver training materials
  • Provides leadership and drives consistency across the plant in operator training processes
  • Serves as the qualifier for operator master demonstrative tasks
  • Assists in the building of operator SOPs as needed
  • Leads equipment-specific training courses as well as individual training
  • Support training coordination efforts which include scheduling training and recording training completion
  • Owns operator skills matrix
  • Spends time gathering and documenting information relevant to operator training from vendors as they come on site
  • Collaborates with all functions of the plant including safety, quality, maintenance, training, and production
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

 

Marginal Duties Performed Less Frequently:

  • Serve as backup Production Line Lead, as necessary, performing all of the duties associated with the Production Line Lead position

 

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position oversees assigned employees in their designated area when they are the acting lead

 

Qualifications / Education / Experience Desired:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of manufacturing or food handling experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Understanding of SQF, GMP’s, food safety, people safety, and food quality requirements
  • Ability to work with and train following standard operating procedures, recipes, and production instructions.
  • Personal accountability to your responsibilities and for your team of associates.
  • Must have knowledge and physical capability to perform the following job descriptions: Cook/Mixer, Depositor Operator, Oven Operator, Flow Wrap Operator, Carton Machine Operator and assigned tasks
  • Ability to work collaboratively within small and large, diverse teams
  • Comfortable with fast-paced and dynamic work environment

 

Language / Mathematical / Reasoning Ability:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required
  • Must have functional ability to understand and speak English
  • Must be able to follow documented procedures that may be written in English only
  • May be asked to use simple mathematic equations (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division)
  • When issues arise, may be asked to assist in the troubleshooting process

 

Supervision Given:

  • This position will report directly to the Day shift Production Manager.
  • This position is expected to be able to work with minimal oversight at times, and be able to confidently handle situations on their own.

  • Must use hands to grasp, grip, pinch and handle objects; lift and reach with hands and arms (Frequently)
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds (Frequently)
  • Must be able to perform repetitive motion requiring arm extensions and wrist and elbow flexions (Occasionally)
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (Occasionally)
  • Must be able to exert a push/pull force of up to 50 pounds (Occasionally)
  • Required to walk and climb steps (Occasionally)
  • Must balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch (Occasionally)
  • Must be able to operate in congested areas (Occasionally)

 

Work Environment:

  • Environment temperature varies between hot and cold conditions
  • Noise level is moderate; hearing conservation program not required, but provided upon request
  • Employees work on or near heavy machinery and rapidly moving equipment

 

Travel Required:
Very Limited – May be asked to go off-site (locally) for equipment training, safety/food safety training and other short duration items.  No overnight travel expected.
