Position Title:  Production Operator (All Shifts)

  • A Shift: Monday - Wednesday 4:00 a.m - 4:30 p.m
  • B Shift: Monday - Wednesday 4:00 p.m - 4:30 a.m
  • C Shift: Thursday - Saturday  5:00 a.m - 5:30 p.m
  • D Shift: Thursday - Saturday,  4:00 p.m - 4:30 a.m

 Compensation and Benefits:

  • Starting wage range is $18.00 to $23.00 / hour
  • Benefits include health, dental and vision insurance, 401k with 4% company match, sick and vacation leave.

Position Summary:

Safely operates, monitors/controls, and maintains assigned equipment in designated area during weekly production runs.  Facilitates changeovers and machine uptime, according to SQF standardization.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safely operates and maintains assigned equipment, according to all occupational safety and SQF guidelines.
  • Safely keeps production-line equipment operating at peak performance throughout each production run, in accordance with the needs of the production schedule.
  • Communicates equipment status with supervisor(s), line lead(s), and maintenance team member(s) in a timely manner.
  • Records machine downtime & uptime during production run
  • Raw materials and packaging management and loading
  • Manages machine controls
  • Works within failure escalation policy
  • Acts as single point of contact regarding equipment status
  • Responsible for product quality checks
  • Responsible for tear-down and assembly of assigned equipment, daily or as needed
  • Performs product changeovers, calibrations and clean outs when necessary
  • Assists with training production associates on standard operating procedures regarding operation of equipment
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy production environment by adhering to company standards and policies, and to legal regulations; alerting others regarding potential concerns.
  • Contributes to production and organization success by welcoming related, different, and new requests; helping others accomplish job results.
  • Performs general housekeeping duties as necessary to maintain a clean work environment
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality are basic necessary requirements of this position.

Qualifications / Education / Experience Desired:

  • This is an Entry Level position. The qualifications are specified as part of the on‐boarding process for potential candidates. Previous manufacturing and/or food management is strongly desired.
  • High school diploma/G.E.D.
  • Hand-tools
  • Automated production-line equipment in a bakery environment (preferred)

Language / Mathematical / Reasoning Ability:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Must have the functional ability to understand English
  • Must be able to follow documented procedures
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Ability to identify safety issues

Supervision Given:

This individual reports to the Production Supervisor

  • Position will work directly with Production Line Lead to manage flowing and crewing
  • The position holder is expected to be able to work with minimal oversight at times, able to confidently handle situations on their own

The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include looking at a computer screen and ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to travel, drive a motor vehicle, and communicate using telephone and email.

Additional physical requirements of this position include:

  • Must be able to stand for 12 hours (Constantly)
  • Must be able to walk up high narrow stairs (Occasionally)
  • Must be able to climb ladders (Rarely)
  • Must be able to lift machinery up to 50lbs. (Occasionally)
  • Must be able to work with hand tools (Occasionally)
  • Can work overtime when necessary (Occasionally)
