Production Line Lead
Position Title: Production Line Lead
Shift available:
- A Shift (Monday - Wednesday 4:00 a.m - 4:30 p.m)
- C Shift (Thursday - Saturday 5:00 a.m - 5:30 p.m)
- D Shift (Thursday - Saturday 5:00 p.m - 5:30 a.m)
Compensation and Benefits:
- Wage range is $22-$27 per hour
- Benefits include health, dental and vision insurance, 401k with 4% company match, sick and vacation leave.
Position Summary:
The Production Line Lead functions as a member of an operations area that is directly responsible for the efficient production, quality, and quantities of product. Production Line Lead needs to be able to manage the trouble shooting process and immediately communicate any down time affecting the production schedule to the appropriate point of contact. The Production Line Lead is responsible for the following areas: Mixing, Depositing, Ovens, Flow Wraps, and Cartoning/ Packaging. When in this position, the position holder will be considered senior level of the production floor and will be called upon for leadership. The Lead reports directly to Production Supervisors.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the production schedule is being followed and any changes must be approved by Shift Supervisor
- Knows and follows all safety requirements
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are basic necessary requirements of this position
- Make sure the kitchen area associates understand and follow recipe using proper batching processes
- Ensure sanitation, housekeeping and overall cleanliness of the production room are compliant with quality standards
- Production Lead is the immediate point of contact for employees working in designated areas
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of production records
- Tracking and monitoring performance metrics for designated areas
- Comply with all GMPs, SQF and Food Safety protocols
- Communicate through e-mail as needed
- Assist in training and development of all employees in designated area, from new hires to experienced operators.
- Oversee production schedule, organize associates and materials as needed to meet schedule needs.
- Perform activities in compliance with all customer and government regulations (FDA)
- Is not hesitant to change or challenge decisions to meet performance goals and commitments
- Train production associates on specific job duties
- Communicate with fellow leads regarding issues and shift-to-shift handoffs
- The production supervisor and position holder are expected to have frequent (multiple times daily) interactions to ensure alignment on schedule, planning, problem solving and labor management
- Perform other duties as directed by supervision
- Trainings Required within first 6 months:
- LOTO training
- Behaving like a leader training
- Communication basics training
- ERP system Training
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position oversees assigned employees in their designated area
Qualifications / Education / Experience Desired:
- Highschool graduate or equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year of manufacturing or food handling experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Understanding of SQF, GMP’s, food safety, people safety, and food quality requirements
- Ability to work with and train following standard operating procedures, recipes, and production instructions.
- Personal accountability to your responsibilities and for your team of associates.
- Must have knowledge and physical capability to perform the following job descriptions: Cook/Mixer, Depositor Operator, Oven Operator, Flow Wrap Operator, Carton Machine Operator and assigned tasks
Language / Mathematical / Reasoning Ability:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Must have functional ability to understand and speak English
- Must be able to follow documented procedures that may be written in English only
- May be asked to use simple mathematic equations (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division)
- When issues arise, may be asked to assist in the troubleshooting process
Supervision Given:
The Production Lead will report to the Production Supervisor.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include looking at a computer screen and ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to travel, drive a motor vehicle, and communicate using telephone and email.
Additional physical requirements of this position include:
- Must be able to stand for up to 12 hours (Occasionally)
- Must be able to exert a push/pull force of up to 50 lbs. (Occasionally)
- Must be able to lift machinery up to 50lbs. (Occasionally)
Travel Required:
Very Limited – May be asked to go off-site (locally) for equipment training, safety/food safety training and other short duration items. No overnight travel expected.
