Position Title: Maintenance Tech Level III
Compensation and Benefits:
- Wage range is $28.00 - $37.00

Position Summary: The Maintenance Specialist is a highly skilled position responsible for leading advanced maintenance activities, overseeing equipment upgrades, and ensuring the reliability of critical machinery in a food baking plant. This role involves in-depth troubleshooting, preventive maintenance planning, and technical leadership within the maintenance team.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow safety policies and protocols; alerting others regarding potential concerns.
- Uphold highest standards of food safety and product quality through observance of allergen protocols, and Good Manufacturing Practices; promptly report food safety and quality issues as necessary
- Lead and perform complex troubleshooting and repairs on bakery equipment.
- Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement permanent solutions.
- Oversee the installation, alignment, and calibration of precision machinery components.
- Utilize predictive maintenance techniques to prevent down time on all equipment.
- Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades to enhance performance and efficiency.
- Conduct tests and trials to validate the effectiveness of equipment enhancements.
- Assists with establishing reorder points, track usage, and optimize inventory levels for cost-efficiency.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to maintenance technicians and junior staff.
- Conduct training sessions on advanced maintenance techniques and equipment operation.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in troubleshooting and maintenance best practices.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to equipment and safety.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment history.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects to optimize processes.
- Weld and fabricate parts for repair, or for process improvement
- Complete work orders from the CMMS and help to develop the PM’s
- Complete maintenance tasks while minimizing production interruption, with little to no supervision
- Assist in leadership of the Food Safety Program for the Maintenance Department
- Assure the adherence to all SQF requirements and meeting of food safety requirements
- Train and mentor Maintenance Technician I in advanced maintenance techniques.
- Share knowledge and best practices with junior technicians to improve skills.
- Responsible for facilitating the passdown of information between the shifts
Marginal Duties Performed Less Frequently:
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive preventive maintenance program.
- Collaborate with vendors and engineers to implement upgrades and modifications.
- Generate reports on equipment performance, reliability metrics, and maintenance costs.
- Ability to lead and direct outside contractors in the performance of their duties, as assigned by Maintenance Management
Supervisory Responsibility:
- Ability to act in a leadership role in the absence of the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Supervisor
- Oversees the work of junior technicians.
- Assist Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Supervisor in evaluation and training of junior technicians
Qualifications / Education / Experience Desired:
- Associate degree or technical certification in a related field
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in maintenance, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical, electrical, and PLC systems.
- Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance methodologies
- Experience with equipment upgrades, installations, and commissioning.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Ability to analyze data, interpret technical manuals, and develop maintenance procedures.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including some weekends and/or holidays
- Available to be on call to assist with issues that may occur during their scheduled time off
- Must be able to read electrical drawings and mechanical blueprints
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)
Language / Mathematical / Reasoning Ability:
- Must be able to write and speak, both clearly and effectively.
- Ability to read, write, and understand documents in English or Spanish, such as Master Safety rules, Good Manufacturing Practices, Standard Operating Procedures, and general instructions
- Bi-lingual in Spanish/English preferred
- May be asked to use mathematic equations (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division)
Supervision Given:
- This position will report to the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Supervisor
- The position holder is expected to be able to work with minimal oversight, and be able to confidently handle situations on their own

- Must use hands to grasp, grip, pinch and handle objects; lift and reach with hands and arms (Frequently)
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds (Frequently) and up to 50 pounds (Occasionally)
- Must be able to exert a push/pull force of up to 50 pounds (Occasionally)
- Required to walk and climb steps (Occasionally)
- Must balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch (Occasionally)
- Must be able to operate in congested areas (Occasionally)
- Must be able to operate maintenance tools and equipment
- Must be able to work from a scissor/articulating lift at heights up to and including 30 feet
Work Environment:
- Environmental temperature varies between hot and cold conditions
- Noise level is moderate; hearing conservation program not required, but provided upon request
- Employees work on or near heavy machinery and rapidly moving equipment
Travel Required: Very Limited – May be asked to go off-site for equipment training, safety/food safety training and other short duration items.
