Community Day: Gathering Food at Community Food Share

Gathering Food at Community Food Share
For our Q3 volunteer day, the Bobo's Team got together to volunteer at Community Food Share in Louisville, Colorado. If you're not familiar with this amazing organization, their mission is to eliminate hunger in Boulder and Broomfield Counties.
Community Food Share works to reduce food insecurity by collecting, storing and distributing food to those in need. How did we come in? Our team worked at their storage facility to organize food and other items, making it easier for those who work there to distribute higher quality food.

Some of us sorted through hundreds of apples to find the ones that were suitable for purchase. For the good apples, we sorted them into bags. For others, we collected them into buckets for donation to pigs at local farms.

Some of us, like our Director of Sales Colin, moved around food to new places in their warehouse. This made it easier for everyone to find what they needed.

90% of the food at Community Food Share is donated. Through these donations, the organization is able to make enough food for around 22,500 meals a day. Their mission for 2018 is to distribute 10.3 million pounds of food. 75% of this will be fresh produce, dairy items, or high-protein foods. Donate your time or your food, if you can!
