Job Title: Production Manager

Position Summary: 

Production Manager has responsibility for overseeing day-to-day shop floor operations across all production shifts.  This person is responsible to ensure production targets are hit, quality and safety standards are achieved and labor is engaged.  In this role, the position holder will serve as the manager for shift supervisors and will serve as the “voice of the production floor” for the Operations management team.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all Production Shift Supervisors across day/night shifts throughout the week
  • Serve as the facilitator of the Food Safety Program for the Production Floor according to all SQF guidelines
  • Serve as key point of contact for communication of schedule for production floor
  • Assist in the troubleshooting and alternate planning process as issues arise
  • Direct responsibility for managing labor costs and production efficiencies
  • Track, manage and report operations metrics (OEE)
  • Help oversee inventory counts as needed
  • Create plans for employee mentoring and training
  • Verify all Production and Quality documentation is complete and accurate
  • Coordinate shift-to-shift communication
  • Oversee the employee discipline program
  • Manage production supply consumption (IE: Towels, aprons, etc.)
  • Maintain all in-process manufacturing specifications
  • Assure personnel follow GMPs & good hygiene practices
  • Review manufacturing processes and meet efficiency targets
  • Review and improve production processes and efficiencies
  • Manage equipment layout, new equipment and processes and implementations
  • Manage and reduce downtime by working closely with maintenance on PM’s etc.
  • Experience working with/Managing Maintenance staff
  • Assure facility and employee safety
  • Assist in product development and product improvements (R&D) as needed
  • Ensure sanitation protocols and changeovers are followed
  • Investigate root cause and implement corrective actions as necessary
  • Support Food Safety and Quality audits
  • Process improvement understanding and Focus

Marginal Duties Performed Less Frequently:

  • Working with 3rd party contractors
  • Working with Warehouse crew at offsite warehouse

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • This position will have direct supervision responsibilities for up to 3 production supervisors and production floor associates (40-50 per shift, up to 120 total)
  • Must be available to Shift Supervisors at any time that production is scheduled

Education/Experience:

  • High School diploma at minimum
  • Minimum 5-10 years prior experience in a similar role and environment
  • Knowledge of natural products industry a plus
  • Combined experience in quality and management preferred
  • Must be familiar with a production environment under FDA and HACCP guidelines
  • Experience with equipment maintenance programs
  • PCQI & HACCP Certified a plus
  • Six Sigma/Lean manufacturing

Language/Mathematical/Reasoning Ability:

  • Must be able to accurately document lot numbers and quantities
  • Must be able to write and speak, both clearly and effectively
  • Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Must be comfortable working with KPI’s and spreadsheets
  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong math skills required

    Supervision Given:

    • This position will report to the Director of Operations
    • The position holder is expected to be able to work with minimal oversight at times, able to confidently handle situations on their own
    • The backup for the Production Manager is the Director of Operations

The employee must be able to drive a motor vehicle, and effectively communicate using telephone and email.

      Travel:  Limited.  Must be willing to travel between Bobo’s facilities as needed in Boulder and Loveland.
